I AM A MIXED USE SHOPPING CENTRE

The Merrion Centre, Leeds, 2019

Film portraying potential unrealised sculptural futures in Leeds in the form of the 41 long-listed unsuccessful entries for the 1964 Merrion Centre Sculpture Competition, which have been remade from their descriptions using items purchased at The Merrion Centre in 2019. The work was filmed in room 544 at the Ibis hotel on the site formerly occupied by the Merrion Hotel. With dialogues recorded in the artist's studio investigating the potential to embody a mixed use shopping centre as a sculptural proposition.
