James Thompson is a young Scottish crime writer, influenced by or similar to the likes of Ian Rankin, Mark Billingham, Iain Banks, David Peace, Brett Easton Ellis, David Mitchell, Stuart MacBride and James Ellroy. His current novel is "Ghost in the Machine" which has been recently submitted to literary agents.
Before taking up writing, James spent ten years of his life trying to become a rock star before starting to write novels. James has written a series of highly-regarded rock reviews for independent Scottish music magazines, including prose-style live reviews of New Order, Oasis and Muse. James has worked for a number of financial institutions, in a variety of roles. James currently makes ambient trip-hop electronica under the name James Jefferson (http://www.jamesjefferson.info). James is 31 years old, and lives in rural East Lothian with his girlfriend, their five cats and a greyhound.
